Lobster boat MILDRED A. "He fishes what he builds. MILDRED A. is the latest production of Edgar Davis of Friendship, Me. She is a 32 footer and somewhat smaller than the 36'4" DIRTY SALLY which he built a year and one half ago. With the shrimp outlook deteriorating, Edgar sold the DIRTY SALLY to Raymond Ames of Matinicus and came in from the banks this past winter to build himself the smaller craft. Although his first love is fishing, Edgar has built 11 boats since 1950 in addition to two years of military service. The MILDRED A. has a beam of 11' and a draft of 3'3". She is powered with a 3-53 Detroit diesel. A semi-skeg design, she has been fastened with sith silicon bronze screws and bolts and with everdur bronze nails below the waterline. She has cedar planks over oak framese." [ref. NF12/ (no year), p. 3-C]
