Seamen's Bethel, or chapel, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Builtin 1831 for the many sailors who called New Bedford their home port and considered it a tradition to visit the chapel before setting sail. Visited by Herman Melville and mentioned in his novel Moby-Dick. [ref. NF 03/1968, p. 38]
