Photography students Bill Kiesel and Elliot Aronin look over the shoulder of Robert Bachelder to see a print he developed at the Central School for Commercial Photography in Manhattan. This photo was published in the June, 1944 issue of U.S. Camera. In spring of 1944, Kosti Ruohomaa took photos of the photography classes at the Central School for Commercial Photography in the Metropolitan Vocational High School on 78 Catherine Street in the Lower East Side of New York City. Six of Kosti's photos were published in the June, 1944 issue of U.S. Camera. Kosti himself had earned a certificate in 1935 at the Boston School for Practical Art focusing on drawing and painting. However, Kosti was largely self-taught in photography, gaining additional insights during his time living in Hollywood and working for Disney from 1938-1943.
