West German freighter NORDHAFF in the Gulf of Mexico, 100 miles south of New Orleans, March 24, 1971. One crewman was killed and four others injured. The fire broke out in the engine room and spread to the superstructure after the freighter left New Orleans under escort of the Coast Guard Cutter POINT SAL.
