Sailing yacht, ketch WHITEHAWK under way. "The WHITEHAWK heads down river at Thomaston, ME., just after her masts were stepped. Made from a wood laminate with epoxy which features an 18 to 1 ratio on the scarf, the WHITEHAWK masts do not taper much. Whatever tapering where is occurs after the uppermost spreaders. the mainmast measures 115' and weighs about 2,200 pounds. The mizzen measures 85'. Both are hollow." [ref. NF 11/1978, p. 86]
