This view astern on the dragger MORNING STAR shows the boat's aluminum gantry, raked aft to mimic the look of a yacht; Paul Schones specified this aesthetic in early conversations with the designer and builder. STAR's net lies spooled around the trawl winch in the center of the frame; the otter boards, which are set after the net, hang to the left and right of the gantry. These drift behind the moving vessel and hold the net open. The 57' aluminum dragger MORNING STAR was designed by Fred Barfuet and built by Bud Hoy of Hoy's Marine in Newport, Oregon, in 1995.
