Untitled
Image of the interior of a parlor or other for-show room of a house. Visible in image: A general view of the parlor of an unidentified house showing one corner of the room and some of the intermediate space. The camera appears to have been set on a table for this exposure to judge by the dark, somewhat reflective but out-of-focus area at the bottom. Of note is the overall dark scheme of the room, reflected in the wallpaper, the patterns on the drapes, and the overall tone of the furniture. The carpet, mantel draping, and wallpaper all feature heavy floral patterning. Furniture and decorative objects include and upholstered chaise longue at lower left, two styles of kerosene lamp ad left and center, a mantel clock flanked by two framed pictures on a high shelf, at left, a number of pictures on the wall and a large easel-mounted picture showing horses and people on a street, wicker and Windsor rocking chairs, and a gleaming upright stove. On the table at center, in addition to the kerosene lamp, is a teapot, a pair of glass bowls, a china bowl with real or simulated pears, and a book or bound album. A newspaper lies on the floor under that table. The location and date of this photograph and the owner of the house are not currently known.
