Image of a man at rest in front of a hunting camp. Visible in image: A man wearing a shirt, neckerchief, and overalls lays down in the doorway of a shingled shack with "Lover Rest" chalked over the door and "RWG--AWB" next to it. He is barefooted. His boots and coat are on the ground in front of him, and a medicinal-looking bottle protrudes from his piled coat. Next to his feet a can of Armour & Co. Pure Beef Lard sits on a box marked "Chas. R. Col--of you--C K." Another boot, a small drinking vessel, and sacks sit to their left. A pot hangs from the tree above. On the other side of the man sits a flat wheelbarrow. His hat and vest hang from the handles. On it are an autoharp, cooking and eating utensils, a sack of L. R. Giles Everything Mixture, and a box of Chocolate Cream Drops. A broom and a shotgun lean against the wall of the shack, a knife is stuck into the wall, a watering can hangs next to the door, a shingling hatchet is stick into the doorjamb, a hurricane lantern hangs next to the door, and a revolver hangs above it. Part of a bunk bed is just visible inside the shack. The exact date and location of this photograph are not presently known. L. R. Giles was the proprietor of a general store in Brownfield, Oxford County, Maine, so unless his Everything Mixture saw wide distribution across the state, this photograph was likely taken in Oxford County.
