From collection J. E. Perkins Collection

Untitled

Image of A view looking into a room of a house that may be James E. Perkins's. (The carpet has an identical pattern to that in other interior photographs in this collection, including a portrait of his wife.). Visible in image: A variety of furnishing in a variety of styles including a fully-upholstered armchair, a lyre-back wooden chair with an upholstered seat, a cushioned Ottoman or bench with a beaded fringe, a writing desk with bookcase, and an easel. The room into which the view looks has flower-pattern carpet with a smaller Oriental rug, a double-width doorway into the room from which the photograph was made and a single-width doorway with door into an adjoining room, and at least two large windows. Ornamentation includes a framed portrait on the wall, a mirror above a sideboard holding other pictures, and a small statue on a table in the center of the room. The wallpaper is patterned, and the lighting fixtures in both rooms appear to be kerosene as opposed to gas or electric. Large valences shade the two windows. No other information about this photograph is presently known.
