Untitled

Image of a middle-aged woman sitting for a portrait. Visible in image: Head-and-shoulders portrait of a middle-aged woman, who is looking out the corner of her eye over her left shoulder toward the camera. That shoulder is bared, as she is wrapped in a diaphanous cloth in a pseudo-Classical style. The photographer has contrived not to expose the lower third of the plate to help frame the portrait. This woman's portrait is also the subject of LB2009.13.399, LB2009.13.402, and LB2009.13.404. Nathan Lipfert, Senior Curator, Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, notes that this may be a formal portrit of Harry Donnell's sister Clara Augusta "Gussie" Donnell, although it is difficult to tell for sure.
