Image of a middle-aged woman in a head-and-shoulders portrait. Visible in image: A middle-aged woman with short dark hair looks away from the camera in a three-quarter-view portrait. She wears a garment of dark lace (or similar construction) off one shoulder. (The viewer should note that the appearance of facial hair can in fact be ascribed to scratches on the emulsion of the plate. The area of the emulsion defined by the woman's face is scuffed in a way that the rest of the plate is not.) This woman's portrait is also the subject of LB2009.13.399, LB2009.13.402, and LB2009.13.403. Nathan Lipfert, Senior Curator, Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, notes that this may be a formal portrit of Harry Donnell's sister Clara Augusta "Gussie" Donnell, although it is difficult to tell for sure.
