Sailing

Image of people in a sailboat. Visible in image: A man stands at the bow of a small gaff-rigged sailboat possibly tending the lines. A woman and two children sit in the stern. The boat is still moored. The two houses in the background sit on Sabino Head, across Atkins Bay from Fort Popham. They appear in photographs on page 2 and 74-75 of One Man's World (Perkins, J. E. and Stevens, Jane; Freeport, Maine: The Bond Wheelwright Company, 1974). A note from the donor of the Perkins collection: "My understanding is that [the people in the boat are] Calvin Oliver, wife and children, here in front of Jane's [Jane Stevens's] house. He lived in what we know as Stanley Hyde's house. This clearly shows what Jane always called the first self-flushing outhouse in Popham!"
