Phippsburg Center
Image of shipping and shipbuilding activity around Phippsburg Center on November 12, 1904. Visible in image: The tug SEGUIN is towing the new four-masted schooner JUDGE BOYCE and a three-masted coasting schooner down the Kennebec River. Along the river's edge, the schooner PERSIS L. COLWELL is on the ways at the Bowker shipyard (far left) and the five-masted schooner MARCUS L. URANN is moored at the Minott yard. The URANN was launched on October 25 1904, while the COLWELL will launch on November 24, 1904. The large building over SEGUIN's bow is the village ice house. The large white house over SEGUIN's stern is the Thomas McCobb house, known as the "Spite House," which was moved by sea to Rockport, Maine in 1925.
