Sailmaker Henry Bohndell laying out a small sail in his loft. Henry Bohndell was a well-known sailmaker in Rockport. His father had started the business long before, and Henry carried it on for years. They were known for their excellent work of making and repairing sails, cushions, etc. Henry's wife, Betty, always did the work of making the fancy launching bottles. The bottle of champagne was first wrapped in a burlap type of material and then Betty braided the outside of the bottles in satin ribbons. That was a talent that very few ever could do as perfectly as Betty did. The business is carried on today, under the same name, across the road from Bohndell's large building on Route 1 near the intersection of Route 90.
