The Samoset Company bus/van is parked in front of some Scony gas pumps in Bridgeton, Maine. A man, possibly the driver or gas station attendant can be seen behind the vihicle. The logo on the door of the vehicle states The SamOset Company, Owned by Maine Central Railroad." The vehicle is a Fageol Safety Coach. These vans were the first large vehicles purpose-built for passenger road travel. They were invented by brothers Frank and William Fageol (pronounced “fadjl”) concluded that existing buses, mostly built on truck frames, were not good at carrying people.
