Color transparency of Dow Air Force Base in Bangor in the 1950s. From 1927 it was Godfrey Field, a commercial airfield. until taken over by the U.S. Army just before World War II and renamed Godfrey Army and later Dow Army Airfield. It became an air force base in 1947. In 1968 it was sold to the City of Bango. The base is now the Bangor International Airport and home of the Maine Air National Guard.
