Silver Springs National Bank, Silver Springs, N.Y.
Image of a light colored brick building housing a bank, with parts of adjacent structures visible at left and right, part of a block front in a small downtown area. This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street. The Silver Spring National Bank building displays a stripped-down version of the sober Neo-Classical architecture favored for institutional buildings around the turn of the 20th century. The wooden structures flaking it date from the middle of the previous century. Printed on The bank's central, arched window is the following information: "Capital - $25,000 "Surplus - $15,000"
