Main St., Howe Cave, N.Y.

View of an unpaved street looking between modest frame buildings across a railroad line to a large factory building. The building on the left has a second story addition built out above an open roadside porch. Opposite is a well-kept, shingled railroad building. Rail freight cars pulled up on a siding by the factory are visible where the street dips and bends to the left out of sight. This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street.
