Dunn Hall, University of Maine, Orono, Maine B96
Image of the four-story Dunn Hall, a brick dormitory, probably completed shortly before the photograph was taken. Its architecture, including a U-shaped footprint, strict symmetry, and careful proportions, reflects a severe, mid-20th century interpretation of the Georgian Revival. It is a mirror-image building of Corbett Hall (also a men's dormitory) which faces it on the Orono campus. Dunn Hall was built in1947 as a men's dormitory and has accommodations for two hundred and twenty-eight students. It was named in honor of the late Charles John Dunn, formerly Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine and Treasurer of the University from 1909 to 1923.
