Image of Bass Harbor Head Light Station from the water. Beside the tower stands a newer fog signal building with a large fog bell hanging off it, and a tall, shingled pyramidal bell tower probably original to the station. The facility was established in 1858 to mark the southern-most point of Mount Desert Island.
