Main St., Morris, N.Y.
Scene looking down the dirt main commercial street of a small town, with frame and masonry buildings, and early motor cars. In the background the street ascends a hill into a leafy residential neighborhood. This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street. Morris, a small town located in south central New York state, was a primarily agricultural community with a few wool textile mills which had closed by the time the picture was taken.
