Scene looking across the dirt street in the center of a small town. Two young men sit on a bicycle in front of a prominently marked garage, while up the sidewalk a couple of young women in long summer dresses stand outside a grocery. Two signs for ice cream, one of them "Wheat's Ice Cream", advertise the ubiquitous and favorite summer treat of the day. This is part of a series of images made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street.
