Image of the three-masted schooner VICTORY CHIMES, under sail, built in 1900 as a general cargo ship for Chesapeake Bay waters. She is the last surviving Chesapeake Ram Schooner -- meaning she carries a "ram" rig comprised of a standing jib, flying jib, staysail, foresail, mainsail, and spanker (mizzen). A centerboard allowed her to work in the Bay's shallow waters. The vessel has no engine and is maneuvered with the help of her 19 foot yawlboat (tender) ENOCH. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1996, Victory Chimes is now based in Rockland, ME.
