Image of First Church of Christ in Belfast, Maine. This Federal style structure, based on an Asher Benjamin design, was built by the Scotch-Irish Congregationalists in 1818. Since then, the imposing white building, which stands on part of the town that is on high ground, has been a clearly visible landmark from the harbor and across the river.
