The Bangor & Aroostook rail line curves at the rural Shirley, Maine depot to the right of the tracks with a switch and sidings for passenger and freight traffic. An engine pulling a passenger car stops at the depot. A boxcar can be seen on the lefthand track. An early 19th century house stands on the hillside with a related large barn.
