Visible in image: building, "Withams Lobster Pounds" sign on roof, view interior through door, automobile, pick-up truck [included in the exhibit "Knox County Through Eastern's Eye"] Wither's Lobster Pound - Route 1 - Rockport, Maine Witham's Lobster Pounds was once a stable, probably a private one owned by a large estate nearby and possibly "Roxmont", now the home of Down East Magazine. Later the stable was a restaurant with wonderful lobster dinners. The stalls were still in place, and booths were in each stable for dining. That made it unique. It was open in the 1950s and 1960s. Lewis E. Bridges was an owner of Witham's Lobster Pound Restaurant & Campground as well as Bridges Bus Lines. Today the lobster pound is part of the Megunticook RV Resort across from Plants Unlimited. --Barbara Dyer, Camden Public Library
