View of Indian Store in Shaw Block in Greenville, ME. Shaw Block was built in 1893 and is one of the most prominent buildings in Greenville. The intersection shown is that of Route 15 (Lily Bay Road) and Pritham Avenue. The salient policemen are shown directing traffic. Frances Richards (94) remembers that the Hotel Greenville was not in that building, but the sign was an advertisement. The building is now occupied by the Indian Store, Rock room candy store, and. These pictures would have been taken from the entrance to the Union Church parking lot. Lea Watt (64) remembers that "the boys" would hang out on the steps of the building in the front left of some of the pictures and on the steps of Shaw Block. These hangouts have been replaced by Jamieson's (Jamos). This photo is circa 1940s.
