Keogh's Tourist Cottage, 148 Lake Flower Ave., Saranac Lake, N.Y. 713. "Variously known as Keough's Motor Court Tourist Home, Keough's Motel, Keough's Over Night Cottages, this was the home of the John E. Keough family. Keough's Motor Court was operated by Mrs. Alice V. Keough who died in 1993 at 104. According to her obituary, "In 1920, Mrs. Keough operated a cure cottage at 148 Lake Flower Ave. for tuberculosis patients. In 1925, she decided to enter the tourism business by converting a cow barn into the first cottage in the area, which became known as the Keough Tourist Lodge. This later became Keough's Motel, which currently is the site of the Adirondack Comfort Inn, and McKenzie's Grille on Lake Flower Avenue in Saranac Lake. She managed the motel until she retired in 1977 because of illness." -- Marc Wanner 2012
