"This is the intersection of Main Street and Stowe Street in Waterbury. The street in the photo is VT Route 100 going to Stowe, thus the name Stowe Street. The rise in the back ground is a bridge over the CVRR Tracks. The concrete stop sign or stationary policeman as it was referred to was removed in 1953 and now has a traffic light. The road base is concrete built in 1930 probably not to long before the photo was taken. The other street is Main Street now US Route 2 leading to Waterbury describing it self as the Crossroads." - contributed by Skip Flanders 2017
