The Pondside Camp Ground, Peacham, Vt. 407.

A view of the Pondside Campground on the shore of Elwell Pond. A dock protrudes out onto the pond from a stand of trees. The concession stand can be seen through the trees. "The Pondside was located in Ewell's Hollow on Ewell Pond. It was a picnic and camping ground with a bungalow for rent. It was operated by W. S. Sanborn and his wife, Hattie Ewell Sanborn. It began operation in 1913 and continued until 1939 when "the little bungalow at Pondside was moved to Keiser Pond by John McGill," who used it as a camp. There is no mention of Pondside after 1939. Over the years, it served as the site of the "general [Peacham] Town picnic," Ewell's Hollow Schoolhouse events and reunions, fishing, camping in the bungalow or maybe also in tents, a rummage sale, and Old Home Day. People came from all around Vermont and from other states to visit and camp on Ewell Pond and at Pondside." -- Kathleen Monroe
