"Penobscot Bay Camps, Searsport Ave., Belfast, Me. 1t." The Penobscot Bay Camps were located on Searsport Avenue (U. S. Route 1) in Belfast. In addition to the cottages, the Camps featured a tea room and a recreation area. The "Monument" can clearly be seen just to the right of the flag pole. It marks the location of Steele's ledge. Originally placed there in 1828, it was washed away as was its replacement. The present structure dates to 1888.
