"View of Somesville, Me. 12x" Union Church "The Somesville Union Meeting House was built in 1852. It looks almost the same today. It may have been designed by Benjamin S. Deane of Bangor, though that is not known for sure. Deane was one of the leading architects in eastern Maine at the time, and it appears that he used Builder's Plate 59 of Asher Benjamin's The Builder's Guide. The building was constructed for $2500 by John Noyes on land donated by John J. Somes Jr. and was debt-free upon completion. View looking northeast."--Willie Granston, 2011
