The Gorge from Ripogenus Dam 10k

The Gorge from Ripogenus Dam The Ripogenus Dam, pronounced Rip-O-Geen-Us, not Rip-Oogen-Us, is still operating today and provides the area with hydroelectric power. This dam isn't in Greenville, it is just north of Rainbow Township. Andrew Shaw recalled childhood experiences on the dam. In the floods of 1987, all of the gates were open and water was still flooding over the top of the dam. Ripogenus Gorge is located below the dam and passes the hydro-electric station. It is a popular white water kayaking spot.
