The Gorge from Ripogenus Dam 11k. Towing a Boom

"The Gorge from Ripogenus Dam Towing a Boom" This is a photo taken from the Ripogenus Dam looking onto Rigogenus Lake circa 1930. The Ripogenus Dam, pronounced Rip-O-Geen-Us, not Rip-Oogen-Us, is still operating today and provides the area with hydroelectric power. This dam isn't in Greenville, it is just north of Rainbow Township. Andrew Shaw recalled childhood experiences on the dam. In the floods of 1987, all of the gates were open and water was still flooding over the top of the dam.
