Searsport, Maine 212

This image shows a large group of school children and their teachers standing in front of the Union School on Mt. Ephraim Road in about 1910. The kids are of elementary and middle-school age. The surrounding landscape is open, and a new sidewalk extends up the street in the foreground. The large brick French Second Empire school was built in 1865 to serve elementary and high school classes. The structure is now an apartment buiding and generally intact, although it no longer retains its bell tower.
