Belfast, Maine, Penobscot Bay Motel The Penobscot Bay Motel, located across from the present day location of Waldo County General Hospital on Northport Avenue, was built in 1953. Owen & Ted Robbins were behind construction of the Penobscot Bay Motel, the city's first motel. In later years the motel was acquired by the hospital and used for a variety of clinics and offices. A portion of the motel was demolished when the new hospital building which houses the dialysis and patient accounting departments was constructed in front of the old motel. The remainder of the building is still in use by the hospital.
