Fort Halifax Power Company, Sebasticook River, Winslow, ME

Fort Halifax Power Company, Dam, Bridge, Buildings, Industrial, Waterway "[This is] the old Central Maine Power Co Fort Halifax dam & power station on the Sebasticook River in Winslow. It was actually torn down not that long ago." --Art Ray, 2012 The very large wooden structure that you can see above the dam a bit to the right of the middle, was Winslow High School. This 3-story school building was built in 1904 along what today is Halifax St. This high school burned to the ground in December of 1914 during Christmas vacation. A new brick school would be constructed on the same site and opened in the winter of 1915-16. That means that image of the Fort Halifax Power Company Dam would be circa 1904 - 1914. -- Jack Nivison 2013
