"School St. Limerick Me. 48." Image shows a quiet dirt lane with trees in a residential neighborhood. A 19th century clapboarded schoolhouse stands at the right. It has two entrances and a flagpole mounted on the gable. According to Thomas LePage, the schoolhouse, "...the Longfellow (Leavitt?) School, on School St., had three rooms. It was discontinued in 1926 when the new, consolidated school was built on Washington St.. It was sold to the Limerick Grange in 1926 for $500. The members worked all that summer renovating it and held their first meeting there on Sept. 26, 1926. The building burned on Dec. 4, 1961 and is now a parking lot..."
