Hill Block, Limerick, Me. 29.

"Hill Block, Limerick, Me. 29." Image shows an American Foursquare house on Main Street, probably built around the turn of the 20th century. An American flag hangs from one of the second floor bay windows, but there is an air of disarray about the place -- the doors are flung open revealing an untidy interior and the front steps look incomplete, suggesting the property was under repair or renovation at the time. The image includes a couple of early automobiles. A sign indicates that at the time of the photograph, the left side of the first floor was the post office. A World War I recruitment poster hanging in the post office window shows a drawing of powerful young men constructing some massive piece of equipment. The caption reads: "Help Win the War with your Brain & Brawn...Watervliet Arsenal N.Y." According to Thomas LePage, the building had housed "many businesses over the years and is currently (2019) the office of a dentist. My grandparents owned a general store and auto repair shop here during the 1940s."
