This is a view taken from the Bayside wharf of Park Row and the lawn sweeping down to the shoreline. Large shade trees overhang the cottages. At the bottom of the row of cottages, closest to the shore, is a larger house with a 3.5-story tower and wrap-around porches on the ground and second stories. There is a fieldstone retaining wall along the bank above the beach. It is high tide. The flag pole near the shoreline is flying an American flag. Nearby is a sort of gateway made of sticks to mark the stairway down to the beach. A woman and a couple of young girls are visible near another flagpole in front of one of the cottages. A man driving a horse and cart can be seen lower down on the street. A person on horseback is visible to the left, near the shore, and a young boy sitting on the wharf intrudes informally on the far left edge of the image.
