PRIDE OF BALTIMORE

The PRIDE OF BALTIMORE was built by the city of Baltimore, Maryland in 1977 to help commemorate the nautical past of the area. In the style of traditional craft of the early 1800's, the PRIDE is operated by a Board of leading business men at a cost of about $300,000 annually of which $100,000 is provided by city funds, The ship visited Portland,Maine as a part of the Tall Ships gathering to celebrate Portland's 350th celebration. The 97 foot long square topsail Baltimore schooner joined others along the coast, before departing for a longer journey to Jamaica and through the Panama Canal to visit California and British Columbia's coast.Under sail stern view -Copied from photograph by Bob Dollard of Annapolis MD.
