JANTHINA

Built by Chetley Rittall. launched in September 1975 the JANTHINA is a catamaran outfitted with living quarters. Named for the pelagic snail, owner Howard Eckles, retired marine biologist plans to make his home aboard. The 38 foot vessel has a beam of 15 feet 4 inches and a maximum draft of 3 feet. JANTHINA will be used for both home base and oceanic research with small groups of students.
