BRENDA LOUISE

The first project at Washburn and Doughty Associates, East Boothbay, Maine, was BRENDA LOUISE, a 69 ft. dragger for owner-skipper Henry Allerdt of New Bedford, Mass. The steel fishing vessel had a beam of 19 ft. and draft of 10 ft. and was launched in August 1979. The boat was an in-house design. The shipyard was founded in 1977 by Bruce Washburn, Bruce Doughty, and Carl Pianka. They specialized in steel and alumimum hulls and expanded from fishing boats to commercial craft including passenger vessels, barges, ferries, research vessels, and tugboats.
