Washburn and Doughty

The Washburn and Doughty shipyuard was founded in 1977 in East Boothbay, Maine, by (l-r) Bruce Doughty, Carl Pianka, and Bruce Washburn. This picture is from 1980. Specializing in steel and alumimum hulls, they started building fishing vessels but soon diversified into passenger vessels, barges, ferries, and research vessels. They became noted for tugboats. As of 2023 the company name was Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc.
