Schooner BOWDOIN - - an Arctic explorer - the first to send radio signals from the far North and the first to send colored photos of the Arctic to the National Geographic Society - Built by the Hodgdon Brothers Yard in East Boothbay, Me. in 1921 - shown here are Miriam MacMillan, widow of Adm. MacMillan, Commander of BOWDOIN on her Arctic exploration voyages, and Mr. Clayton Hodgdon of Boothbay Harbor, Me. cook on 6 of those trips 1946- 1951. Both are in attendance at the 65th birthday celebration of the schooner. April 9, 1986
