Schooner BOWDOIN - an Arctic explorer - the first to send radio signals from the far North and the first to send colored photos of the Arctic to the National Geographic Society - Built by the Hodgdon Brothers Yard in East Boothbay, Me. in 1921 - Shown here the BOWDOIN under reconstruction - a homemade steam box was used to shape 2 5/8" white oak planks as the new ones came uneven so had to be planed to original 2 5/8" - March 18, 1982
