Battleship KATAHDIN
COPY NEG- KATAHDIN-armored ram. February 4, 1893. launched two years building at Bath Iron Works. Conceived and advanced by Rear Admiral Ammen in the early '80's. Question of maneuverability and speed. 32 attempts were sea run, no success. Act of Congress put KATAHDIN in fleet and saved BIW from ruin. Decommissioned in 1910.
