Peter Kass Boats

This is a new boat launched at the John's Bay Boat Company in South Bristol, Maine, on November 5, 1987. The 40 ft. boat was an unusual job for wooden boat builder Peter Kass. The 22nd hull produced in his yard was a construction barge for Alan Chaney of Chaney Wharf Construction, Wiscasset, Maine. This craft has a beam of 20 ft. and draft of 5 1/2 ft. It is self-propelled with a 350 cu. in. Buick engine of 200 hp. A small pilot house is located on the port side of the stern. Two 30 ft. steel studs can be seen on the front corners. They can also be used at the rear corners.
