VERNON LANGILLE
Tancook whaler VERNON LANGILLE enters the Kennebec River at Bath, Maine, on the day of her launch, July 7, 1979. She was a reproduction of a style of schooner built on Tancook Island, Nova Scotia, from 1880 through the early 1900s. At the time of her launch she was the largest wooden boat (35 ft.) built in the apprentice shop at Maine Maritime Museum. She was named for the elderly Novie boat builder who advised the project and whose father created the original Tancook whaler.
