SIMON BOLIVAR
The 270 ft.Tall Ship SIMON BOLIVAR visited Bath, Maine, in late August 1981 from Venezuela. The occasion was the city's bicentennial celebration. She was a newly built steel training vessel with a crew of 194. The Maine Maritime Museum co-sponsored the visit. This crowd gathered near the old Fort Popham to watch the ship sail out of the Kennebec River into Penobscot Bay on its way to New York City.
